1

Requirement

Visual information to assist the client in identifying project objectives/elements. Expect drawings and diagrams showing important parameters or constraints. The intention is to develop and understand the initial project brief and Client requirements.

Purpose of information

To provide a visual indication of proposals at a Feasibility stage identifying key requirements.

Plan

The above illustration is for Flag and slab bound paving systems from the NBS section Unit paving systems. This is indicative of the LOD requirements for Flag and slab unbound paving systems.

2

Requirement

Visual information to provide general principles of the design. Showing arrangement of external surfacing materials, and key project criteria to suit a client’s brief. General descriptions would be expected to communicate principles of materiality, scope, colour and context. Expect strategic co-ordination with other professions, such as architects and engineers (civils & highways), to show general principles of the design.

Purpose of information

To provide a visual representation of proposals at a Concept Stage and support general spatial co-ordination.

3

Requirement

Visual information to provide developed principles of the design to a greater level of detail. Developed coordination between relevant professions, such as architects and civil engineers. Visual development showing co-ordination for general area and primary relationships between other elements of the external works construction.

Purpose of information

To provide a visual representation of proposals, confirming brief for Technical Design stage supporting full spatial co-ordination.

4

Requirement

Information to be updated to production level of information and to link drawn information back to external works specification.

Purpose of information

To provide sufficient information for contractor to issue to sub-contractors and to refine the external works construction programme.

5

Requirement

Visual information to provide finalised set of information to support construction / installation. Visual representations showing final co-ordination between relevant professions, such as architects and engineers, for area and relationships between other elements of the external works construction. Typical installation details produced separately linked to model element and adjacent constructions. Information to be updated to reflect ‘Final Construction Issue’.

Purpose of information

To be updated during the construction process to reflect the final design, and to provide a future reference to sit alongside the O&M Manuals.

Plan

The above illustration is for Flag and slab bound paving systems from the NBS section Unit paving systems. This is indicative of the LOD requirements for Flag and slab unbound paving systems.
